Daily Schedule of Subjects

Note:
3rd grade starts at 9:00am
4th - 8th grade starts at 8:30am

Day Subjects

Monday

Morning

Reading, Math, Language Arts, Writing. Daily work with new lessons as needed.

  • Spelling is a daily task with new words chosen on Thursday.
    Spelling tests are on Friday and assignments given on Thursday are due the following Wednesday.
  • Reading groups are on one day each week and students will work on their assignments for the balance of the week. (There are three groups that meet on different days.)

Afternoon

Science - new material presented including experiments when appropriate. Assignment given.

Tuesday

Morning

Reading, Math, Language Arts, Writing. Daily work with new lessons as needed.

  • Spelling is a daily task with new words chosen on Thursday.
    Spelling tests are on Friday and assignments given on Thursday are due the following Wednesday.
  • Reading groups are on one day each week and students will work on their assignments for the balance of the week. (There are three groups that meet on different days.)

Afternoon

  • 3rd & 4th Cultural Studies - A History and Geography new material presented

  • 6th & 8th Cultural Studies - A History and Geography research project is given at the beginning of the month.

    Students have one month to complete research and map activities. Guidance is given as needed.

Wednesday

Work on assignments including reading, cultural studies, spelling, etc. as needed to be completed by the due date.

Spelling: Assignments due.

Thursday

Spelling: New words chosen today (due next week).

Daily Homework: One half hour of reading and a written summary.
Work on assignments including reading, cultural studies, spelling, etc. as needed to be completed by the due date.

Additional Homework: Students have to select a current event.

Friday

Current Event: Assignment due.

Spelling: Test today.

Daily Homework: One half hour of reading and a written summary.
Work on assignments including reading, cultural studies, spelling, etc. as needed to be completed by the due date.

 

MONTHLY

6th & 8th Cultural Studies

  • Beginning of each month: A history and geography research project is given. Students have one month to complete research and map activities. Guidance is given as needed.
  • End of each month: History and geography research project due.
                   

UPCOMING WORK

  • November 2015 - Students will begin work on their Science Fair Projects. The focus is zoology.
  • May & June 2016 - The reading and writing of poetry will be studied.
